Documentary of ÇAKÜ Academician Meets the Audience in Ankara

The documentary short film titled "Unutuş - Ahmet Muhip Dıranas", directed by Çankırı Karatekin University Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture Department of Cinema and Television Research Assistant Furkan Alperen Demir, met with moviegoers in Ankara within the scope of short film screenings organized by Artales Film.

At the event held at Kült Kavaklıdere Cinema on May 20, 2026, short films of different genres were presented to the audience. The documentary titled "Forgetting - Ahmet Muhip Dıranas", which is included in the screening program, deals with the disrepair and ownership problems of the house that Ahmet Muhip Dıranas, one of the important names of Turkish literature, had built in his father's village in 1964, after the poet's death.

The 2022 documentary makes visible both the current state of the building and the need for social awareness of the poet's cultural heritage through interviews with Dıranas' nephews. The film brings the audience not only the story of a physical structure, but also an important discussion about the protection of cultural values.

In the interview moderated by Hayri Çölaşan after the screening, evaluations were made on the creation process of the documentary, the difficulties encountered during the production phase, interview preferences and editing approach. Research Assistant Furkan Alperen Demir stated that he prepared the documentary during his undergraduate education and stated that the main purpose of the study was to draw attention to the life and cultural heritage of Ahmet Muhip Dıranas.

Demir stated that there is a more comprehensive version of the documentary and that the study aims to make visible Dıranas's literary identity, his relationship with the geography he lived in, and his indifference towards his cultural heritage, rather than a biographical narrative. In the interview section, questions asked by the participants regarding the film, the current status of the building, the cultural heritage of Dıranas and property problems were also answered.

Within the scope of the event, short films named "Let Me Tell It Like This" by Damla Ersan, "Mangır Kafa" by Orhan Önder Yaycıoğlu, "Larva" by Volkan Güney Eker and "Foreign Memories" by Serhat Şen were also screened. The program, which continued with interviews with the directors after the screenings, ended with the presentation of certificates of appreciation.

The inclusion of Research Assistant Furkan Alperen Demir's documentary in this special screening held in Ankara is important in terms of increasing the visibility of Çankırı Karatekin University academics' productions in the field of art and culture on national platforms.
