Academic Support from ÇAKÜ for the Future of Water
Çankırı Karatekin University participated with a large academic delegation in the "Before Cities Are Thirsty: Xeric Landscape and Turkey Water Atlas Program for the Future of Water", where the protection of water resources, dissemination of xeric landscaping practices and Turkey Water Atlas studies were discussed.
Çankırı Karatekin University was represented by an academic delegation at the "Before Cities Are Thirsty: Arid Landscape and Turkey Water Atlas Program for the Future of Water" held at the Beştepe Campus of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in Ankara on June 9, 2026.
The university was attended by Rector Prof. Dr. In addition to Mevlüt Karataş, Faculty of Forestry faculty members Prof. Dr. Umut Beijing Timur, Prof. Dr. Ceyhun Göl and Prof. Dr. Alkan Günlü and Food and Agriculture Vocational School faculty member Dr. Lecturer Represented by member Elif Karaca.
Particularly the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı, managers of public institutions and organizations, university rectors, academicians and private sector representatives showed great interest in the program organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
Within the scope of the program; While protecting water resources, increasing water efficiency and adaptation to climate change policies were discussed, comprehensive evaluations were made about the dissemination of xeric landscaping practices, sustainable management of water resources and Türkiye Water Atlas studies.
Prof. Dr. Ceyhun Göl Participated as a Panelist
In the panel titled "Before Cities Get Thirsty: Arid Landscape for the Future of Water" held within the framework of the program, Çankırı Karatekin University Faculty of Forestry faculty member Prof. Dr. Ceyhun Göl took part as a panelist and shared his views on xeric landscaping practices, effective use of natural resources and adaptation processes to climate change.
Contribution from ÇAKÜ Academicians to Black Sea Ecological Region Studies
Following the panel, workshops were held for eight ecological regions created to identify, select and evaluate Turkey's xeric plant species. The workshop organized for the evaluation of natural and exotic plant species that can be used in the Black Sea Ecological Region within the scope of xeric landscaping was attended by the Head of the Landscape Architecture Department of the Faculty of Forestry, Prof. Dr. Umut Beijing Timur and Food and Agriculture Vocational School Park and Horticulture Program instructor Dr. Lecturer Member Elif Karaca attended.
Academics contributed to the development of sustainable landscape practices by sharing their opinions and suggestions in line with the ecological potential of Çankırı province.
Çankırı Karatekin University continues to contribute with its scientific knowledge to studies carried out on a national scale to combat climate change, protect natural resources and develop sustainable environmental policies.
