The Scientific and Sufi Legacy of Ahmet Mecbur Efendi was Explained at ÇAKÜ

"Ahmet Mecbur Efendi Panel", the first of the "Values ​​of Çankırı" programs organized by Çankırı Karatekin University Turkic Studies Institute, was held at Uluyazı Campus Ahmet Yesevi Conference Hall.

Çankırı Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Muharrem Ovacıklı, academicians, administrators, students and citizens attended the program.

Following the program, a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, faculty member of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences Dr. It started with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Faculty Member Nazım Çetin, dedicated to the spirit of Ahmet Mecbur Efendi and the scientific and spiritual leaders of Çankırı.

Prof. Dr. In his presentation titled "An Ottoman Scholar on the Axes of Science, State and Caliphate: Ahmet Mecbur Efendi", Burhan Çonkor gave information about Ahmet Mecbur Efendi's scientific personality, his services to Çankırı and the difficulties he faced in his life. Çonkor also shared with the participants the work he started in 2016 to reveal Mecbur Efendi's works and the process of accessing his work "Hilâfetnâme-i Osmânî ve İttihatnâme-i İslâmî" in the Egyptian National Library. At the end of his speech, he expressed his suggestions for conducting academic studies on Mecbur Efendi's work and creating a representative tomb in his name in Sarıbaba Cemetery.

Faculty Member of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Tourism Prof. Dr. Fatih Güzel, in his presentation titled "Ahmet Mecbur Efendi's Views on the Caliphate", stated that Ahmet Mecbur Efendi wrote works to raise awareness of the nation and the ummah during the difficult times of the Ottoman Empire. In the presentation, topics such as the importance of the caliphate, the responsibilities of the rulers and the people, the survival of the state and the necessity of military service were discussed. Güzel emphasized that, according to Mecbur Efendi, the strength of Muslim societies is possible with adherence to Islamic morals and rules, and stated that more academic studies should be conducted on his works.

Dr. In his presentation titled "Ahmet Mecbur Efendi's Literary and Sufi Aspects", İbrahim Akyol stated that Mecbur Efendi, who started his poetry career with the pseudonym "Vefdî", wrote poems with the theme of human love in his early periods, and after meeting the Naqshbandi sheikh Hilmî Efendi, he turned to Sufi life and started using the pseudonym "Mecbûr". Akyol pointed out that the poetry journey of Mecbur Efendi, who focused on divine love and religious-sufistic poems after this period, was similar to the literary adventure of Necip Fazıl Kısakürek.

At the end of the program, certificates of appreciation and gifts were presented to the panelists and Çankırı Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Muharrem Ovacıklı for their contributions to the panel and the scientific and cultural heritage of Çankırı.
